Can I donate blood if I visited South Africa two and half years ago and the UK within the past six months?

Tomorrow I was planning to donate blood, but I heard that if you have been to areas of Africa where there is malaria, or have visited the UK (and I have done both) then you aren’t eligible to donate. Is this true?
