I am planning on backpacking around Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines in mid april this year i just wanted to know if thats enough money to do a fair amount of activties without having to worry constantly. Also what i can do to keep the costs down, other than budgeting and stay in cheap accom etc.
Thanks again. All suggestions are welcome.
What does the term “duck” mean with regards to backpacking or geocaching?

I’ve just learned of a game called geocaching. You use a GPS to locate hidden items placed in remote spots around the world. One of the clues for a cache near my home says that a previous visitor had “ducked” the cache. The term seems to be used in backpacking as well.
Do you know what this means?
What muscles need to be strengthened for a 5 day backpacking trip?

I only weigh 105 and was told I won’t be able to carry much on my backpacking trip, but I don’t want to be a burden to my crew. So in the spirit of wanting to pull my own weight, what muscles should I strengthen?
We will be backpacking 4 and 1/2 days in the Pecos Wilderness of New Mexico.
What are some good jobs that would allow me to go backpacking, and have limited contact with other people?

Something I could start doing after 2 years training in community college or even work my way up from the bottom if I got hired right now, or something I could do after taking a NOLS course? Studying animals, plants, trees, rocks, trail maintenance? Where do I begin? I can’t work with the public or any sort of policing/rangering isn’t my style, nor anything more dangerous than hiking/backpacking. I can’t teach kids or give speeches. I could write reports, make observations, do hard work, but not Sherpa style, and no internships or volunteering which are against my philosophy. Have I whittled it down to nothing?
My philosophy is that I get paid for my efforts in life.
Yeah, not even a clue. I don’t even know where to begin?
