where do you think are the best places to visit in europe?

I was thinking about going to Europe during the summer and I was wondering what countries would be the best for me to visit. If you could give specific places in each country so that I have a better idea of what to see when I’m there.

I am presently residing in Germany with my wife and we both love to travel. But my wife is in India now and I would like to travel a bit on my own. What are the good places for me to visit. I normally love historical places.

Thinking about going on a vacation with my wife to Southern Europe in Auguast, never been there before. Where do you recommend?
